Forgotten Heroes
Title: Forgotten Heroes
In the halls of the VA, a controversy brews,
As they lend a hand, to a cause they did not choose,
While veterans languish, waiting for their due,
The staff aids ICE, leaving comrades in a queue.
Once fearless soldiers, now left in despair,
As their cries for help, echo through the air,
Their sacrifices forgotten, their needs cast aside,
While illegal immigrants receive care with pride.
The backlog grows, like a burdensome weight,
Each day passing by, the veterans’ hope abates,
Their medical needs unmet, their pain intensified,
As their pleas for assistance continue to collide.
The VA, once a beacon of support and aid,
Now leaves its own wounded, neglected and betrayed,
How can we honor heroes, if we let them suffer,
While resources are diverted for another?
Their stories untold, their battles unseen,
The veterans’ struggle, a silent stream,
They fought for our freedom, with unwavering might,
Yet denied the care, they so rightfully cite.
Let us not forget, those who served and fought,
Those who protect us, crossing boundaries fraught,
It is time to stand united, and demand their due,
For our veterans, our heroes, steadfast and true.
