A Mockery of Empathy

A Mockery of Empathy

A Mockery of Empathy

In moments shaded dark with grief,
A heart once warm now bears no relief,
With cruelty cloaked in callous mirth,
A man demeans, belittles a soul’s rebirth.

When shedding tears for loved ones lost,
The wellspring of sorrow, a tempest tossed,
Yet a voice, devoid of empathy’s grace,
Mocks the display of a hurting embrace.

In a solemn time, for strength we seek,
For solace, compassion, the spirit meek,
Yet words, like arrows, pierce the heart,
Tearing others down, fragmenting every part.

Forgiveness withheld, gratitude questioned,
A mourning spouse made a target of derision,
Yet, in this moment of profound despair,
The world awaits a glimmer of care.

Let empathy bind us, not tear us apart,
For kindness is a balm, healing every heart,
May compassion’s fire reignite our core,
Uniting the broken, spreading love evermore.
