Vindication of the Victims

Vindication of the Victims

before each stanza

Title: Vindication of the Victims

A powerful voice calls for justice,
Memory is vibrant and strong,
Grief and sadness linger in the air,

Mourning for a life taken too soon.
Impunity must not be overlooked.
The evil must be battled and won,
To restore peace and harmony.

The ex-Chilean army officer faces US expels,
Accused of torturing and murdering a folk singer,
What he has done cannot go unpunished,

The cries of the heartbroken must be heard.
Thus, justice will be brought to bear.
The pain and anguish must not be in vain,
But set right for the sake of humankind.

A resolution is called for,
A path of justice and truth,
Bringing about freedom and reprieve,

So that the victims voices be vindicated.
The innocent must be vindicated,
Showing that the darkness shall be conquered,
The pain and suffering healed and overruled.

Let justice be seen to be done,
Redemptive measures taken to restore the wounded,
The tide of evil is confronted and fought,

Where love and peace will prevail and overcome.
Vengeance is not for the living,
But rights and justice are for the hearing,
Bringing them solace and comfort.
