Shadows of Justice
Title: Shadows of Justice
In the land of swing state Democrats’ reign,
Where criminal penalties were deemed a bane,
They lessened the weight of each legal chain,
Before tragedy struck, leaving hearts in pain.
Behind closed doors, decisions were made,
To weaken parole laws, many afraid,
Unbeknownst to the judge, misfortune would cascade,
A sinister plot that would leave the city betrayed.
The swing of the pendulum, the scales of fate,
Tipping towards chaos, a troubling state,
The fragile threads of justice, they started to break,
As darkness crept in, it was far too late.
On that fateful day, the gavel pounded,
Unaware of the danger just unfounded,
The judge stood tall, her judgment abounded,
Until the echoes of shots left her surrounded.
A city grieved, its soul bruised and scarred,
As the news of the attack spread afar,
Questions arose, how could this have marred,
The once peaceful streets, now marked with tar?
Let us remember, the consequence of action,
The importance of laws, steadfast and unshaken,
As we honor the victims, with hearts never forsaken,
May justice prevail, and heal what was taken.
