Arrested Voices Chanted the Truth

Our voices stirred for justice, a fight for rights,
Chanted a message for peace on this starry night.
A pro-Palestinian demonstration just outside Rockefeller,
Calling on world leaders to no longer ignore her.

We all stood together as the tree lighting began,
Singing for Palestine to gain freedom and land.
Before the event was finished police grabbed our signs,
Several arrested and dragged away for their kind.

We continued to chant aloud, refusing to break,
Despite the forces of the state desperately at stake.
Our solidarity held strong until the lights were out,
Each of us hoping that this message would not go out.

Still, no matter the cost or price, we shall fight,
For Palestine’s freedom until day and night.
We must stay vigilant, for it is our duty,
Every person for justice, until it is due.
