A Matter of Respect

Approaching a cuddly pooch,
With gentle consideration,
Should not be done without a start
Most should learn this situation.

Invading with a loving touch,
Can seem so pure and true,
But decency is absent when
The owner’s by-passed too.

We must approach with simple care,
Since it is not our own,
And ask if it’s allowed, show respect,
When near a furry friend’s home.

Owners will protect, respect their space,
As our own dogs would too,
Without a question, permission’s sought,
With politeness through and through.

Dogs are meant to feel secure,
They don’t say no, that’s true,
But that should not mean an invasion,
Unless asked by you.

Respect someone else’s property,
This should be done with care,
Without any fuss or feeding it,
If a dog’s to be approached near.
