A Nation in Grief

A Nation in Grief

Title: A Nation in Grief

In Iowa’s heartland, sorrow stains the soil,
A school shooting ignites collective toil.
Trump’s callous words, a nation in despair,
His plea to “Get over it,” so hard to bear.

Mourning souls, shattered dreams beyond repair,
Anguish pulses through communities laid bare.
Eyes heavy with tears, hearts aflame with rage,
Searching for solace, in this darkest age.

Yet, unity emerges from the pain,
Hands clasped tightly, cleansing hurt and strain.
Together we rise, a resilient choir,
Defying tragedy with love and fire.

But, oh, the echoes of those hollow words,
A leader’s callousness, a nation’s stirred.
“Grieve, and grieve deeply,” voices now decree,
For healing starts with empathy and decree.

For every victim, let us raise our voice,
Demanding change, so tragedy’s our choice.
Let sorrow fuel a fight for safer days,
United we stand, a future ablaze.

Keywords: sorrow, shooting, unity, voice, change, future.
