Title: At the Gaol

Despair, Pain, Justice, Fury, Resilience, Grievance
In this cell of misery Derek Chauvin lost his chance
A blade in inmate’s hands soon put the justice to the test
An act of rage, his desperate plea,22 thrusts, against the oppressor that had oppressed
For too long his silence was the only way to survive
Until a time had come to seek vengeance and revive
The indignant shouts of an old wound in his heart
Durability and poise is what makes us part
A crime of passion, an anguish against a common fear
To restore a balance, that could be kept near
We must never forget those who endured the worst
For only then can hope and justice re-emerge at last.
