Captive Hope

A soul adrift, in depths of despair,
Seeking refuge, a safe haven to repair,
Onboard Bibby Stockholm, an asylum seeker’s plight,
An agonizing journey, fraught with fright.

The weight of an uncertain fate,
In the shadows, hope dissipates,
Ahead of a crucial MP vote,
Upon Rwanda plan, they urgently dote.

Controversial barge, with safety amiss,
A vessel trapped in a turbulent abyss,
A life lost, a tragic end,
Leaving behind a message to send.

In the corridors of power’s might,
Debating the solution, the ongoing fight,
But for this lost soul, it’s too late,
Their final escape, sealed by fate.

Let us lament this sorrowful strife,
Extend compassion for a fragile life,
As the world turns, let us remember,
We are all seeking solace in this vast endeavor.

May we strive for kindness and empathy,
In our hearts, let humanity be,
For no one deserves to bear this woe,
Let compassion guide us, let love flow.
