Echoes of a Doorbell

Echoes of a Doorbell

Title: Echoes of a Doorbell

Through the block’s hushed night, a bell does ring,
Awakening the fears that prejudice brings,
In a white homeowner’s world, tension soars,
As an innocent, dark-skinned teenager explores.

A muffled plea, whispered in the silent night,
An innocent summons, pure and free of strife,
Yet misunderstood, by eyes clouded with rage,
A twist of fate, unfolding on life’s fragile stage.

A door, heavy with secrets, creaks open wide,
Revealing a landscape where boundaries collide,
A trigger pulled, shattering dreams in a flash,
Forever altering destinies in its deadly crash.

Now justice takes its stand, in a courtroom’s glance,
The accused steps forward, burdened by circumstance,
With solemn face, he faces his haunting crime,
Accepting the consequences for crossing the line.

In the gallery, faces etched with sorrow’s face,
Witnesses and family seek a shred of solace,
A plea for understanding, for empathy’s grace,
For a world where humanity can find its rightful place.

Yet, lessons in tragedy may find a way to heal,
A shattered unity, for future generations to reveal,
May this tale be a reminder of how we can’t afford,
To let hatred’s fire consume us, lest we be ignored.
