House Democrat’s Plea
House Democrat’s Plea
In swift and piercing words, a plea is made,
To rid the shadows of deceit and guile,
A call for truth, for trust to be remade,
The fire of justice, forever to be fueled.
The corridors of power echo with dismay,
As transparency veils, a charade so sly,
A lack thereof has caused this dire dismay,
The people’s voice silenced, truth buried deep.
Sec Austin, the keeper of our defense,
But now the walls of trust are crumbling fast,
Your hands no longer gentle, but dispensed,
The patient seeks a surgeon, a leader steadfast.
Lost is the faith, the bond once held so strong,
Transgressions of darkness, fragments of truth,
The price for silence, now we can’t belong,
To reclaim honor, trust cannot be aloof.
So, resign, oh Secretary of Defense,
Let sunlight cleanse the corridors anew,
Rebuild the bridges, make amends hence,
Restore the trust that once was forged by you.
Opacity, deception, trust betrayed, lost faith
