In Remembrance of Innocence Lost
Title: In Remembrance of Innocence Lost
In an Iowa school a tragedy occurred,
As innocence was shattered, leaving hearts obscured,
Grief seeped through the corridors, heavy in the air,
Yet the President’s words spoke with an apathetic glare.
“Have to get over it,” he nonchalantly claimed,
Brushing off the sorrow, the pain left untamed,
But how can a nation heal if we’re forced to forget,
The lives forever altered by a moment we can’t reset?
Bereaved families left to navigate this cruel reality,
Their tears flowing freely, a testament to their agony,
While politicians offer their thoughts and their prayers,
Actions rarely follow, leaving communities with layers.
The echoes of gunshots haunt our trembling souls,
Yet leaders turn a blind eye, ignoring the tolls,
It’s time to face the issue, to confront the plague,
And protect the innocent youth from this terrible rampage.
Let us remember the lives forever changed that day,
As their spirits linger with us, guiding the way,
For in our collective grief we’ll find the strength to persist,
Until “getting over it” becomes a distant twist.
