Locked Inside the Flames
Locked Inside the Flames
Inmates trapped within their cells,
As fire’s wrath in darkness dwells.
On Rikers Island, where hope suspends,
Twenty injured, fate’s cruel amends.
Smoke engulfs the stifling air,
Despair echo’s, a silent prayer.
Confined, the flames dance and leap,
While hearts inside tremble and weep.
Their cries unheard, their pleas denied,
Locked away, condemned to hide.
Invisible souls bear the scars,
Of lives consumed by prison bars.
But in the darkness, hope remains,
Resistance surges through the chains.
For in their hearts, a fire burns bright,
Yearning to break free, reclaim the light.
