National Debt: A Heavy Burden

In a nation once prosperous, alas,
We now face a fiscal morass,
A relentless surge in our national debt,
A challenge we cannot soon forget.

Each passing day, it continues to rise,
Unyielding, it drowns our economic skies,
Looming large, like a darkening storm cloud,
Our financial future cloaked in a shroud.

$34 trillion, an unimaginable sum,
Drowning us, as individuals, one by one,
For every citizen, a weight to bear,
$100,000 owed – it’s simply unfair.

As we strive to build and pave our way,
The debt’s weight upon us starts to sway,
The dream of progress, elusive and grim,
As our financial prospects grow dim.

Yet hope remains, if we dare to reclaim,
Fiscal responsibility, no longer a game,
Through prudent choices, economies planned,
We may yet restore the strength of this land.

Let us rise from this burdened collective plight,
With wisdom and courage, we’ll set things right,
A united nation, we shall overcome,
And secure a future where debt is undone.
