Not for the Apologies

Gender, autism, over-apologizing, woman, strength, emotions

No longer with remorse so deep in my bones,
I’m taking back my power and standing alone.
No more apologies for my deeds or thoughts,
I’m rising up above the things I was taught.

For too long I let society’s rules enslave me,
With expectations endangering my identity.
It’s time to take back the power that’s mine
And show the world I’m ready and divine.

The strength I have as a woman won’t be squashed,
No matter the consequences or backlash.
My intuition and emotions will be here to stay,
Forgetting the regrets of yesterday.

So goodbye to my days of over-apologizing,
My steps will be brave and without disguise.
My gender and autism won’t be ignored,
I’m taking charge from here on out.
