Profits of Conflict
Title: Profits of Conflict
In a world wracked by strife and despair,
Where hope dwindles, leaving hearts in tatters,
A decision was made, one that weighs upon us all,
To sell more weapons, as darkness does befall.
A veto was cast, stalling a cease-fire’s plea,
Ignoring pleas for peace, what tragedy to see,
The cycle of violence fueled by greed,
As we carelessly sow another bloody seed.
Profits grow as anger festers and swells,
While innocence fades and despair compels,
Is this the legacy we choose to create,
Where weapons are worshipped while lives disintegrate?
Yet, amidst the chaos, a glimmer of hope,
For a world united, together they grope,
To dismantle the walls and build bridges of peace,
To grant solace and harmony, an overdue release.
But until then, we bear witness in agony,
To the consequences of our insidious apathy,
Soldiers march, weapons in hand, on distant shores,
While the world weeps, longing for peaceful shores.
