Title: Profits of Power

In the halls of Congress, where laws are conceived,
Members of power with a secret to deceive,
Trading stocks and reaping profits unseen,
Ethics forgotten, in a dim political sheen.

Their pockets grow fatter, while the system corrodes,
Legislative duties replaced with economic nodes,
An insidious dance of influence and sway,
As the nation’s faith in democracy begins to decay.

Corruption thrives in this slow legislative year,
Transparency fading, replaced with sly veneer,
The people’s trust, a fragile thread so thin,
Shattered by the greed of politicians within.

But we shall not yield, for justice’s flame shall ignite,
Exposing their schemes, piercing the dark night,
Demanding accountability, a change we’ll pursue,
For the voice of the people speaks loudly and true.
