Requiem for Chris Christie

As Trump extinguishes dissent’s last ember,
With icy winds, he claims his victory,
The end of an era, a sad November.

Chris Christie did uphold his own ideals,
But now silenced in the Trumpian war,
His voice consumed by power’s ruthless wheels.

Once a brash man with a bold ambition,
He stood tall as a prominent Republican,
But his downfall came with a grave condition,
As Trump’s shadow grew larger, evermore draconian.

Yet his voice, though silenced, shall not be forgotten,
In the annals of history, his courage lives,
A reminder of a time when truth was not so rotten,
When leaders were measured not by lies, but by the lives they give.

So let us mourn the death of true dissent,
As the echoes of Chris Christie fade away,
May his memory guide us, to never relent,
