Shadows of Doubt
Title: Shadows of Doubt
In the twilight of a peaceful life,
A storm of accusations and strife,
Descended upon a humble man,
An ex-postmaster, falsely banned.
His heart, once buoyant, now heavy with pain,
Nothing but darkness, justice in disdain,
Etched lines of sorrow now marred his face,
As innocence wept in this unjust space.
One solemn day, his daughters in tears,
Gazing at him, their trust mixed with fears,
“Father,” they whispered, their voices quaking,
“Did you steal from us? Our hearts, breaking.”
His breath caught in his throat, the pain immense,
Yet resolve emerged, simmering intense,
With tears in his eyes, he embraced them tight,
And vowed to fight, restore the light.
In courts he battled, his truth unfurled,
The weight of suspicion, like a formidable whirl,
Juries listened, evidence stacked,
Yet justice’s wheel, cruelly, it lacked.
With scars not only visible, but deep within,
The ex-postmaster’s life, forever tinged with a sin,
Yet his love for his daughters remained steadfast,
Their innocence restored, a love that would last.
