Silent Release
Title: Silent Release
In darkened cells, where shadows imbue,
A silencing hush, as dreams bid adieu,
Where hope flickers low, amid despair’s might,
Alabama seeks a death by whispered night.
No gasps of breath, no cries of pain,
Nitrogen’s embrace, extinguishing life’s strain,
Yet questions persist, as conscience divides,
If this is mercy, where compassion hides?
Does justice reside in a whisper’s touch?
Or in a solemn court, where truth’s judged much?
In chambers black, where morality is tested,
Alabama seeks redemption, life’s essence arrested.
For life’s worth cannot be measured, you see,
With logic alone, nor knowledge decree,
In balanced scales, where humanity’s plea,
Whispers to the wind, no answer to be.
Keywords: silence, despair, mercy, justice, redemption, humanity.
