The Fragile Roots

The Fragile Roots

Title: The Fragile Roots

In a garden of hearts, an array of parents dwell,
Emotionally immature, their stories they tell.
From passive to reactive, their flaws entwined,
Leaving profound scars, in young hearts enshrined.

The first, the Neglector, distanced and detached,
A barren presence, emotional needs unmatched.
Indifference their armor, neglect their cruel game,
Leaving behind voids, shadows casting blame.

Next comes the Enabler, the parent who denies,
Shielding their child from life’s truths and its highs.
Overprotection their anthem, reliance their creed,
Creating fragile souls, ill-prepared to succeed.

The Controller, a tyrant, wields power and might,
Domineering, imposing, their way is the right.
Choking independence, shaping minds to obey,
Robbing autonomy, sowing disarray.

Enter the Borderline, unpredictable and unsure,
Wavering emotions, their hearts insecure.
Fickle love given, then swiftly retracted,
Leaving confusion, hearts wounded and impacted.

Last is the Reactive, volatile and extreme,
Riddled with anger, their temper’s dark gleam.
Explosions of rage, scars etched within souls,
Fractured relationships, emotional black holes.

These types of parents, emotionally incomplete,
Leave their mark, their imprints discreet.
But understanding the roots, the nature of their strife,
Enables healing, for the wounded hearts’ life.
