The Mediocre Comedy Parade
Title: The Mediocre Comedy Parade
Comedy, once a realm of wit and grace,
Now seems entangled in an endless chase,
With mediocrity wearing the crown,
Substance and intelligence, nearly drowned.
Once revered for sharpness, humor now lost,
A sea of shallow jesters, an eerie exhaust.
Gone are the days of thought-provoking jest,
Now laughter’s currency merely at its crest.
Jokes devoid of substance, shallow and weak,
Cheap laughs dominate, rare brilliance we seek.
Katt Williams knew this decline would persist,
A mediocre state, one cannot resist.
Stand-up comedy, once a craft refined,
Now dwells in shallows, where few dare to find,
The true essence of wit, that sharp-edged wit,
Lost in a sea of jesters who dimly emit.
Oh, where are the Carlin’s, the Pryor’s, the truth?
In a comedic era devoid of such ruth.
Yet, amidst the mediocrity’s reign,
A glimmer of hope, a break from the mundane,
Hidden gems emerge, their brilliance revealed,
A beacon in darkness, rare talent unconcealed.
For within this sea of shallow jests unkind,
A few poets of comedy, yet we shall find.
