The Triumph of Red
The Triumph of Red
In Caucus Land, a fervent tide
Did sweep through fields of corn so wide
Evangelicals, with hearts aflame,
Declared allegiance to a name.
Their choice, a man who promised change,
Embodied their convictions, strange.
Within the hallowed halls of prayer,
They bowed their heads, consumed by fear,
For values bound by Scripture’s might,
Or so they claimed, with words so trite.
Yet on this day, their masks removed,
Their true beliefs stood unimproved.
They cheered a man whose troubled past,
Revealed no actions that held fast
To principles they swore to keep,
In sacred texts, engraved so deep.
But casting shadows, morals blurred,
They waved their flags, their voices heard.
For in their hands, the power lay,
To choose a leader, come what may.
And in this choice, their conscience drowns,
Where bigotry and anger sound.
They disregard love’s guiding light,
Opting for darkness, fueled by spite.
So now we see who they have been,
Evangelicals, once pure and keen,
Exposed as hypocrites, laid bare,
No longer righteous and aware.
Their like-minded leader they did find,
In Donald Trump, they are defined.
