Regifting the Unwanted

In a box, wrapped with care, I found it there,
A gift that bore no joy, but burdens to bear.
A silent thank you escaped my lips, yet no cheer,
For this unwanted treasure, now entangled in my despair.

I pondered, bemused, its purpose so unclear,
Desperate to find a way, to make it disappear.
Time ticked on, the deadline nearing, I now fear,
Returning this burdened gift, my only plea, my prayer.

But fate did smile, a solution it did steer,
Regifted to another, in hopes it might endear.
With alleviation, my heart was set to clear,
The unwanted gift, released from its severe.

Now free of its weight, my joy did reappear,
A lesson learned, to choose with more sincere.
Never again burdened, by gifts that adhere,
Regifting proves worthy, to preserve our cheer.
