Turmoil at the Rio Grande

Turmoil at the Rio Grande

Buoys installed by Texas at the Rio Grande
Gather dust, awaiting orders from the unknown command,
As overwhelmed Arizona border crossings closely closes.
What once was a port to welcome those from afar,
Now stands silent, met with a new approach to guard.

Buoys at the Rio Grande, remnants of days gone by,
Signals the uncertainty and precarity that soon shall arrive.
Blocking the way for those wanting to cross the border,
The crossed fingers of immigrants and their dreams in dismay,
As the monstrous borders clamp their way through.

Buoys at the Rio Grande, from the sun they reflect,
Sending out a silent call to assure our apathetic state.
What once was a safe haven has now been locked in steel,
As the Rio Grande struggles to contain the sorrows felt.
Another attempt to protect what’s to come and keep us safe.

But the Rio Grande buoys stay stoic, welcoming all the same,
The desperation of those wanting a safe harbor, settling for the waves.
Texas’ order to remove echoes through the entire region,
But when life knocks at your door, you can’t help but answer.

The buoys from the Rio Grande, become a reminder,
That when one door closes, another may await, if we have the faith.
The locks on the border become but futile attempts,
As nothing will deter those longing for a new life.

Buoys from the Rio Grande, still remain sentinel,
Watching over the riverside, in a seemingly endless, vigil.
An autonomous state where the potential of dreams can survive,
In spite of those who try to quelch it, with their walls.
