Unveiling Shadows
Title: Unveiling Shadows
In a quaint New Hampshire town,
A voter listened with a curious frown,
As Nikki Haley’s words began to unfold,
Yet, astonishment within him took hold.
How could she omit such a vital trace,
The shadowed truth of our nation’s face?
For the Civil War’s cause, long renowned,
Is rooted in the darkness that was once found.
Slavery, a haunting scar so deep,
Ignited fires, tearing souls from their keep,
History’s echoes, loud and clear,
Telling tales of pain and lives held dear.
Yet, in the absence of those words unspoken,
A void remains, a truth halfway broken,
Forgetting lessons etched in each line,
Can only perpetuate a delicate decline.
Let us not shy away from this bitter strife,
Rise above ignorance, embrace the truth’s rife,
For only through acknowledging our past,
Can we mend the fractures that still lasts.
