Waiting for the Moon

Poem

Waiting for the Moon

We wait for NASA’s lunar landing,
A day we still may postpone
For what we thought was Apollo’s plan
May not be seen ‘til twenty-twenty-seven.

Hopes for space exploration delayed,
Dreams stuck in this lost ground
We linger until this hopeful day.
But when will the lunar mission sound?

Our dreams aspire for the great ceiling
Want we so much to achieve
To send cosmonauts to the moon’s brink
But when will our wait finally leave?

It seems that waiting is still forlorn
Our chance to see is still unmet
Without being somewhere to actually yearn
Our hope seemingly is futile yet.

Waiting takes toil yet remains easy
Changing the possibilities and goals
We question, yet still, our faith to believe
This journey and request takes its toll.

We dream and hope for success
Our wishes will not suffer and blight
That this wait may be ever so slight
And our delight shall be infinite.
